MARC SINDEN PRODUCTIONS After appearing as an actor in over 40 plays in the West End, tours and repertory and numerous television series and films, Marc Sinden was appointed Artistic Director of the Mermaid Theatre, a position he held from 1993 to 1994. In 1996, he produced the premiere of NJ Crisp’s play That Good Night on a critically acclaimed national tour starring Donald Sinden, Lucy Fleming, Patrick Ryecart, Julie-Kate Olivier and Nigel Davenport. He managed to talk Michael Pavelka out of teaching and back to set-designing. And directing his first commercial tour, Edward Hall. In 1997, he became Associate Producer for Bill Kenwright where his West End credits were Lady Windermere’s Fan (Haymarket), followed by Pygmalion (Albery) which he also co-directed as well as discovering and casting newcomer Carli Norris and Sir Peter Hall’s multi award-winning production of An Ideal Husband (Haymarket & Gielgud). In addition to being Associate Producer on a further sixteen touring productions, he was also responsible for the Theatre Royal, Windsor. He returned to independent producing in 1998 presenting and co-directing Steven Berkoff in Shakespeare’s Villains (Haymarket) which received a Society of London Theatre Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment and in 1999, the 25th anniversary production of Berkoff’s East (Vaudeville & Theatre de Silvia Monford, Paris) which as well as participating in the Edinburgh Festival (Stage Award for Best Ensemble work), toured into 2000. In 2002 he produced The Glee Club (Duchess), starring David Bamber and David Schofield, directed by the Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre Mike Bradwell. In 2003 he established THE ONE NIGHT BOOKING COMPANY, which presents celebrity-led anthologies and recitals around the country on 'One Night Stands'. Also in 2003 he devised, directed and co-wrote with Norman Hudis (the author of the first six of the “Carry On…” movies), Seven Deadly Sins Four Deadly Sinners, an innovative anthology on the Seven Deadly Sins starring four leading actresses from an interchangeable cast of fourteen! In 2004 he created UK THEATRE AVAILABILITY.CO.UK the industry-standard website dedicated to enabling Theatre Managers and Theatre Producers to be able to find out any UK theatres' availability for any given week and details of their facilities, or what shows are currently available for touring 'at the touch of a button'. One reviewer said that the website is "The most important advance for touring-theatre industry professionals since the invention of the telephone". Another: "Theatre availability will never be the same again! UKTheatreAvailability.co.uk is the web service that producers and theatres have been waiting for all their lives and we have Marc Sinden and Carol Macdonald to thank for it". And yet another said: "This new site could well be the killer-application the business has been waiting for. A single clearing house of available productions and theatres, accessible 24/7/365 from anywhere in the world with a couple of mouse-clicks, it's such an obvious idea that it's incredible that it has taken so long. Like all the best ideas, it's simple and everyone who hears about it kicks themselves for not thinking of it first". He represents the UK on the Artistic Advisory Board of the Colorado Festival of World Theatre and also broadcasts a regular live monthly slot, UK Theatre News, on ‘The Magazine’ for BBC Radio Guernsey. Marc Sinden Productions have further plays due for major productions this year and next, including Jeffrey Archer's Prison Diaries by FF8282, as well as two film projects in development to be shot in Provence in the South of France and Belfast.
