Fluff those afros, grab your platforms and throw on some glitter because Qdos Entertainment are proud to announce that ‘Boogie Nights’, the ultimate seventies party is back!  This glamorous glitterball of a show will have audiences dancing in the aisles as it embarks on a four month tour of the UK. The show has been extensively reworked for the 2002 tour, so that this time it’s bigger, bolder and better than ever! More great disco songs have been added to the line up, there’s more comedy, a funky and formidable new cast and the show sizzles with energy like you had never seen before!

Starring SAM KANE and SOPHIE LAWRENCE, Boogie Nights (written and directed by JON CONWAY) was an instant hit when it made its West End debut (starring Shane Richie) at the Savoy Theatre in ’98, and the highly-acclaimed touring version  (last seen in the UK in 2000) created a huge army of fans, following the show around the country, outdoing each other with ever-wilder afros, ever-wider kipper ties, and flares that have to be seen to be believed!

The show’s creator, Jon Conway is confident that this excellent new cast will bring an extra dimension to the show: “Sam Kane as hero Roddy is one of only a small handful of actors who could follow Shane and this he will do in his own inimitable style.  Sophie Lawrence is bringing her considerable  experience and talent to the Debs character and I am thrilled with the talent of the new cast we have assembled”.

Sam Kane has been working constantly since leaving Brookside, attracting great reviews for his stage musical roles, touring in Carousel and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers as well as presenting and guesting on numerous TV shows.  Alongside Sam, in the role of Debs, is Sophie Lawrence, who’s also earned praise as a musical star in shows such as The Rocky Horror Show, and is much in demand since leaving her role as Diane Butcher in EastEnders.  Joining Sam and Sophie will be highly rated musical comedy performers Kev Orkian (as Terry) and Stephanie Charles (as Lorraine).

Boogie Nights is a sensational show with an absorbing storyline featuring amazing dance routines and funky seventies costumes! The show is packed with classic seventies floor fillers including Boogie Wonderland, Celebration, Disco Inferno, Enough is Enough, I Will Survive, Play That Funky Music, Street Life, We Are Family and YMCA. Boogie Nights is a celebration of the undying spirit of the decade that brought us glam, funk, flares and disco!

Plans are now underway for a US transfer next year.  Jon Conway; “ America beckons, and I am adapting the show for the ‘American language’, re-titling it ‘Boogie Wonderland’ and a major coast to coast tour will commence in April 2003”.
