COOL JAZZ & SOUL

at Cannizaro Park Festival

Cannizaro Park, West Side Common, Wimbledon SW19 4UE

Tuesday 13th July – AMY WINEHOUSE – 7.30pm

Sunday 11th & 25th July & 1st August – LUNCHTIME JAZZ with the 606 Club – noon till 3pm

Cool Jazz with the 606 Club and new British Jazz-Soul singer Amy Winehouse add more quality tones

to the line up at Cannizaro Park Festival 2004.  Robert J Williamson is delighted that the Cannizaro

Park Festival, one of London’s major open air attractions, is bringing together excellent artists and

performances to ensure that the Festival takes pride of place in the City this summer - a perfect

environment for the very best in open air theatre and entertainment

AMY WINEHOUSE

On Tuesday 13th July at 7.30pm AMY WINEHOUSE will take to the stage of the specially constructed

open air theatre, in front of the 700 seat auditorium.  Set in an idyllic purpose built Italian walled garden it

is situated in the heart of Cannizaro Park on the edge of Wimbledon Common.  Amy Winehouse is one of

the hottest new artists in Britain today, at only 19 years old with a timeless, emoting voice Amy is a vocal

prodigy and already a great jazz-soul singer. Nominated for two Brit Awards for Best British Female Solo

Artist and Best British Urban Act, she has a sizeable fan base won over by her sultry tones, which have

been caressing the air waves for months. Her debut album FRANK has had the critics falling over themselves

to praise her as a new British vocal great. Cannizaro is her only summer gig and London festival this year –

tickets are already selling fast so early booking is strongly recommended!

Tickets: £20 & £18.

LUNCHTIME JAZZ WITH 606 CLUB - Sunday 11th & 25th July & 1st August

All Tickets: £5, concessions £3, children free.

The 606 Club is one of the longest running Jazz Clubs in Europe and has been home to Britain's finest

musicians for over 25 years and, together with the Cannizaro Park Festival producer Robert J Williamson,

the 606 Club has picked an incredible mix of exciting talent featuring...

POLLY GIBBONS - SUNDAY 11th JULY 12-3pm
Barely 20 years old Polly has already taken the scene by storm. She recorded her first album when she was

just 18, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. A powerful and versatile singer she performs gentle

Jazz ballads and rockin' R&B classics with a uniformly impressive energy and technique.

LEE GIBSON - SUNDAY 25th JULY 12-3pm
Lee is a wonderful straight-ahead singer, vastly experienced and highly regarded. Her credits vary from work

with the BBC Radio Big Band to small group work in Germany, France and Australia. Her extensive radio

work includes over 1000 solo broadcasts for the BBC and she has been featured on numerous CD's.

SAMARA - SUNDAY 1st AUGUST 12-3pm
A seven piece jazz/latin band led by 606 Club owner Steve Rubie on Alto sax & flute.  Neil Angilley, the

pianist, works with Vanessa Mae and Down to the Bone, guitarist Mark Johns includes Sting, Whitney

Houston and Geoff Beck on his cv and is in constant demand for sessions and tours.  Dill Katz the bass

player is visiting professor at the Guildhall, Nic France the drummer has worked with just about everyone,

including Bill Withers, the percussionist, Dawson Miller is generally recognised as one of the most versatile

and experienced players on the scene, and the singer Heidi Vogel is considered to be one of the most

exciting new talents around.  The music is an infectious blend of Brazilian Samba, Jazz/Latin and Soul, and

a great time is had by all!
