FAMILY FUN DAYS

at Cannizaro Park Festival

Cannizaro Park, West Side Common, Wimbledon SW19 4UE

Monday12th July, Sunday 25th July & Sunday 1st August 2004 – 7.30pm

It’s family and childrens’ fun days all the way this year at the Cannizaro Park Festival.  Robert J

Williamson is delighted that the Cannizaro Park Festival, one of London’s major open air attractions,

will be hosting not only events that all the family can enjoy, but also The Cannizaro Park Circus

Weekend - a weekend (17th & 18th July 2004) of high energy acrobatics and awe-inspiring tight-rope

and trapeze work as Swamp Circus, the country’s leading Cirque Troupe, comes to town, PLUS three

performances (27th, 28th & 29th July 2004) only of Playbox Theatre’s fabulous new Treasure

Island.

SWAMP CIRCUS remains the UK’s longest contemporary circus troupe whose corde-lise aerialists can

be seen flying high in the BBC ident – Red Silks.  Following their highly acclaimed production MOTO

which toured extensively to 30 European venues and the UK, Swamp Circus are proud to present their

new production FRAGILE, at this year’s Cannizaro Park Festival.  Described by The Stage as ‘Fast.

Frantic.  Frenetic.  Fantastic’ this is a Circus Weekend not to be missed – and for two hours during the

afternoons of 17th & 18th July children (aged 6 upwards) have the opportunity to take part in a training

programme of clown, mime, acrobatics, aerial movement and balance skills.  The each evening at 6pm

SWAMP CIRCUS presents a spectacular theatre show - a colourful, spectacular - live music from the

clown band on bungies accompanies a unique ballet in the air. Swords and glow staffs clash in martial

acrobatics and sparks fly as colourful explosions rock the robots and laser jugglers. Clowns appear and

disappear into the giant film backdrop as the story of ultimate genetic mutation threatens the wild ones

still living in the FRAGILE depths outside the mutations of the technozone.  An evening guaranteed to

captivate, amaze and enchant the whole family.

Playbox Theatre Company brings their brand new production of Treasure Island to Cannizaro Park Festival

for three performances only on Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th July – all 7.30pm.  Based

on the ever popular novel by Robert Louis Stevenson this new adaptation makes sure that you have your

cutlass at the ready – there are Pirates about!  The good ship Hispaniola is ready to set sail with her crew

to the mythical Treasure Island and your place on deck is awaiting along with Captain Smollett, Squire

Trelawny, Cabin Boy Jim Hawkins and the infamous pirate Long John Silver…it’s a voyage of danger and

discovery with many a twist of fate before land fall.  Pirates have never been so popular…so away me hearties

and off to Treasure Island…
