Ice skating’s seasonal charm returns - Hampstead Heath Ice Rink at Parliament Hill Fields
Saturday 2nd December 2006 to Sunday 14th January 2006
The thrill of skating in the open air, in wonderful surroundings on a magnificent real-ice rink is guaranteed to enthrall all – and at Hampstead Heath it is quickly becoming a Christmas and New Year mainstay.
Following the success of the Hampstead Heath Ice Rink at Parliament Hill Fields last year the real-ice rink will return this Christmas and New Year for another six week season. The ice rink will be operational from Saturday 2 December 2006 through until Sunday 14 January 2007.
So wrap up warm with your hat, gloves and scarf over the Festive period – with family, friends and work colleagues - and enjoy a session of Christmas ice skating. And why not also take in the beauty and splendor of Hampstead Heath, from walks through its wonderful woodland to doing a “Mary Poppins” and flying a kite at the highest point of the heath.
Bob Hall, Chairman of Hampstead Heath Management Committee, said: “I am pleased that the ice rink is coming back to the Heath for another year, after a successful first winter. “I’m sure it will continue to be popular with regular and new visitors to what is one of the world’s most prestigious open spaces.”
The real-ice rink, which measures approximately 30m by 30m, will be sited at the tennis courts at Dukes Field, Parliament Hill Fields on Hampstead Heath.
The ice rink will measure approximately 900 square metres and have a capacity of 245 people per hourly session. The Ice Rink Café alongside the ice rink (no entrance charge) will be serving warming drinks and festive snacks for those wanting to take it easy and relax after their skate or whilst watching others take to the ice - so why not come down and watch while sipping on your hot chocolate or mulled wine and nibbling on a warming mince pie.
Booking for the ice-skating sessions (hourly sessions accommodating 245 people) is open by phone (0870 060 1762) and internet from www.hampsteadheathicerink.com, www.londonicerinks.com and at Ticketmaster. Tickets, subject to availability, will also be on sale between 10am and 9pm at the Ice Rink when it is operational. As with its sister rinks – Tower of London Ice Rink, Greenwich Ice Rink at the Old Royal Naval College, Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink, Royal Windsor Ice Rink and Manchester United Ice Rink - it is anticipated that at weekends and immediately around Christmas and New Year tickets will sell extremely quickly so advance booking is strongly recommended.
Ice Rink Press Passes are available for the evening of Friday 1st December 2006. For more information on Hampstead Ice Rink at Parliament Hill Fields, Passes, imagery and information on PWR Events contact PAUL SAVIDENT on 020 8567 2089, or e-mail paul@savident.com.
