Richard Leighton – Life Coach

Life Coaching for a better future

Am I happy with my life?

Why have I not fulfilled more of my dreams?

I hate my job but how can I change it?

Are my goals the right ones for me?

How can I take control of my life?

These are the questions that many people ask themselves when they are not fully content with how their life is

going.  There are usually friends with whom problems and concerns can be discussed, but often those closest

are not able to help shoulder the burden of the issues and concerns.  Also closest friends often dispense advice

from their own individual perspective. In many situations, sessions with a qualified life coach, such as Richard

Leighton, may be the route that enables a person to find their own answers.

“Personal Coaching is fast becoming one of the most effective recognised methods of kick starting a

person’s life. It is a positive, forward thinking approach to sorting out those negative issues that

prevent people from achieving their goals and ambitions.  People hire coaches when they are ready to

take action and need a firm but gentle push to get their life back on track”  Richard Leighton  Dip LC

(Inst LC) MLCI

Richard Leighton offers Personal Life Coaching for individuals and couples and Corporate Coaching for

companies. He specialises in coaching for people working in Entertainment and Media, and also the gay

community. "Having worked in Media and Entertainment in a variety of roles, I’ve seen first hand

how high levels of stress and insecurity can affect people adversely and stand in the way of their

progress. The coaching process helps a person to understand their own reactions and behaviours

more fully; it enables them to begin letting go of the negative obstacles in their life for good. There

has to be mutual commitment in a client–coach relationship; it’s a working partnership that relies

upon an honest and challenging dialogue, enabling people to consider their own choices and

pathways in life, and to walk down them, with confidence."

'What is Life Coaching?' and 'Why would I need it?' are the questions that often get asked when people start

talking about Life Coaching.  The answer to the first question is simple, but the answer to the second is as

individual as what hairstyle you like to wear.  Not everyone needs Life Coaching, but many have benefited

from Life Coaching and more are looking for Life Coaches each day.

How does life coaching work?  Whether a person has come to a halt in their life, or are just starting out, life

coaching can help them discover the best way of kick starting or changing any aspect of their life.  Life

coaching is a unique, effective way of helping to mould a person’s future through support, encouragement,

empathy, and challenge. It encourages the client to look at their future from a different angle, effectively

refreshing their perspective, and clearing out mental clutter.  Plans and dreams can become a reality when

positive, measured steps toward achieving them are taken.

How is it done?  The personal life coaching offered by Richard Leighton is on a one to one basis by telephone.

The initial session is free of charge and during this Richard discusses the needs of the client and tailors a

programme to suit their individual life.  If, at the end of this initial consultation, the client believes that Life

Coaching is right for them, further sessions, at mutually agreed dates and times, will be agreed.

What happens during a session?  Richard Leighton provides, and is responsible for, a safe, non-judgemental

environment for clients to flex their mental muscles and talk about the issues in their life that give them cause for

concern. Working as a team Richard and his client systematically build a new framework for the client’s life –

without bringing into play prejudices and personal issues that could be offered by a close friend or confidante

of the client. The good news is the client will generally have all the necessary resources to deal with their life

issues – it’s Richard’s job to help them re-develop those skills and resources, by doing so enabling them to

successfully tie-up or conclude loose ends and confidently tackle their challenges.

The ultimate aim for Richard Leighton and his client is to be able to unlock the client’s potential and achieve

balance in all areas of their life.

Sue Clark, a Certified Distance Learning Tutor for The Life Coaching Institute and a practising Life Coach,

was Richard Leighton’s tutor throughout his Diploma and stated ‘Richard was a straight A’s student.  His

understanding and perception of Coaching goes very deep and I can assure anyone who takes him on as

their Coach that they will get honesty, integrity, empathy and encouragement. I thoroughly recommend Richard

as a Life Coach and I guarantee that he will change your life for the better!”.
