Ice skating returns bringing seasonal charm at the

Royal Windsor Ice Rink

Saturday 8th December 2007 to Sunday 6th January 2008

Ice skating in wonderful surroundings has become a mainstay of Christmas and the New Year and Windsor’s own real-ice rink will return for its third season at Alexandra Park near the banks of the Thames in December.  PWR Events Ltd and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead have again joined forced to open the Royal Windsor Ice Rink on Saturday 8th December 2007 for a four week season.

The real-ice rink will be situated in Alexandra Park, near the banks of the Thames in Windsor, sited to the east of the London Plane tree that was planted in August 1902 to celebrate the Coronation of Edward VII and his Queen, Alexandra.  From the gardens there are views up to Windsor Castle, the largest inhabited castle in the world and the favourite weekend home of the Queen.

The ice rink will measure approximately 900 square metres and have a capacity of 245 people per hourly session.  CaféIce alongside the rink (no entrance charge) will be serving warming drinks and festive snacks for those wanting to take it easy and relax after their skate or whilst watching others take to the ice.

Windsor at any time of year is an exceptional place to visit – for both tourists and shoppers alike – and even more so at Christmas with events such as a spectacular Victorian themed Christmas Light switching on ceremony in front of Windsor Castle, featuring the choir from St George’s Chapel, a children’s lantern procession, Live Reindeer Parade, and live entertainment throughout the Christmas season.

Booking for the ice-skating sessions (hourly sessions accommodating 245 people) is open by phone and internet from Ticketmaster and www.royalwindsoricerink.com.  Tickets, subject to availability, will also be on sale between 10am and 9pm at the Ice Rink when it is operational.  Sessions at weekends and immediately around Christmas and New Year tickets will sell extremely quickly so advance booking is strongly recommended.

Ice Rink Press Passes are available for the evening of Friday 7th December 2007.  For more information on Royal Windsor Ice Rink, Passes, imagery and information on PWR Events contact PAUL SAVIDENT on 020 8567 2089, or e-mail paul@savident.com.
