THE PRESS RELEASES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 17 April 2007
ClothesAgency.com goes Green
see it, love it, own it
ClothesAgency.com has become the place online for fashionistas worldwide to find designer fashion at excellent prices. Whether new or as-new, ClothesAgency.com has built a global reputation of quality, value, service and integrity.
With areas of the site dedicated to Ladies, Gents and Children, (plus a Celebrity Sales where the proceeds help charity), and a current listing of over 4,000 items, buyers and sellers have together created a unique fashion community. Forget auctions, pop-ups and flashing adverts – this is just a simple trading environment where Members can take an active part in helping themselves AND the planet.
Recycling and Re-UseEveryone is talking about recycling and re-use, and ClothesAgency.com had these same thoughts uppermost when the website was first launched. Lady Apsley, founder of ClothesAgency.com, is herself a self-confessed obsessive when it comes to the importance of not letting anything go to waste, and textiles are no exception – “All of us have clothes sitting in our wardrobes, some of which we’ll possibly never wear again, so I built ClothesAgency.com to be a place where people would feel welcome and comfortable enough to sell and buy quality designer items, wherever they may be.”
“We all talk about recycling of newspapers, cardboard and composting but very few people have mentioned the tons of clothes and accessories languishing at the back of our wardrobes literally gathering dust. So the idea is straightforward and simple – if one person doesn’t want use from a particular handbag, pair of shoes or trousers, in fact any garment, then I’m sure that someone somewhere in the world would be delighted to own the very same piece – giving it a complete new lease of life. The re-use of clothes and textiles is simply another way of recycling.”
Lady Apsley continues “Today’s society has an obsession with wanting everything ‘brand new’ and we really need to get over this belief that fabulous designer items can only be bought from a trendy shop or boutique. Not only that, but we all have ever-tighter budgets to follow - the secret is to find how we can keep within those confines but still maintain our style.”
ClothesAgency.com enables each Member to not only sell their unwanted items online, but also to find a completely new and fresh wardrobe at a fraction of the retail cost. The prices make even the most glamorous labels accessible to the more frugal shopper and, for those with an imaginative and creative flair the ‘possibilities for re-design and re-fashioning are endless’.
“It has to be said that there’s a certain sense of satisfaction and pleasure when you find a new home for something” says Lady Apsley, “simply because you may not have worn an article of clothing for ages, it doesn’t mean it has no value to someone else – remember the old saying ‘One Man’s Junk, Another’s Treasure’. And with the money you have made, you can invest in something you will use.”
“Most importantly, with our increasing awareness of the planet and what we’re possibly doing to it – re-using our fashion relieves the demand for new fabric and therefore the pressure on the our planet, whether it be natural or man-made fibres, to create that cloth.”
With over 20,000 members throughout the world, and with over 10,000 items already sold, ClothesAgency.com has created an environment that is not only interested in buying and selling fashion, but also in exchanging ideas and tips. Lady Apsley concludes “ClotheAgency.com is a community and we’ve noticed an increase in the use of the forum area of the site, people who want to share thoughts and ideas or ask questions that others may be able to answer – my hope is that it will be a huge benefit for us all”.
