THE PRESS RELEASES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 4th July 2004 fusion academy of performing arts On September 11 2004 a new style of theatre school opens its doors for the first time – a theatre school which is driven by its attention to detail. Fusion Academy of Performing Arts is a school that puts it pupils first, by making sure, amongst other important issues, that its teachers are the best in the business.
“We believe we are creating simply the best par -time performing arts school in Britain. What sets us apart is our attention to detail. From choosing our venues, to hiring workshop leaders, to creating our unique, contemporary syllabus, and securing a host of well-known performers as patrons, our mantra over and over again is Excellence! Excellence! Excellence!” Ben Douglas, Fusion’s Director
To date Fusion has attracted patrons who are themselves the best in the business including Ewan McGregor, Dame Joan Plowright, Lynda Bellingham, Kwame Kwei-Armah, Cherie Lunghi, Matthew Bourne, Maria Friedman, Thandie Newton, Jane Leeves - many of these patrons will be presenting Fusion Masterclasses in the coming months.
Ewan McGregor stated “Fusion is a fantastic idea that will benefit all involved, from the students to their audiences” while Lynda Bellingham said “No one who has met Fusion’s founder, Ben Douglas, can fail to be impressed by his integrity and energy” and Kwame Kwei-Armah commented on Fusion’s approach “It’s good to know that every child’s creativity will be encouraged at Fusion, regardless of race or creed”.
Fusion teachers are the very best. All are experienced performers who also have a gift for inspiring young talent. Combined with an ambitious outreach programme including theatre visits and links to the Royal Opera House and Theatre Museum, advice on diet and exercise, a commitment to an ongoing dialogue with parents, close ties to the NSPCC and assessed classes and performances each term which culminate in a major show – Fusion is starting as it means to go on!
