THE PRESS RELEASES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10 July 2006 (Originally sent 5 July)
ANITA DOBSON & VINNIE JONES nail their names to the trees in Stephen Sondheim & James Lapine’s Into the Woods ROYAL ALBERT HALL, Kensington Gore, London, SW7 2AP Sunday 22nd October 2006 – 3.00pm & 7.30pm
Anita Dobson and Vinnie Jones have nailed their names to the trees for The Children’s Society’s 125th Anniversary performances of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s most loved and popular musicals, Into the Woods, at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 22nd October 2006.
Anita Dobson, a much-loved and well known talent of stage and screen, said: “I feel privileged and honoured to be a supporter of The Children's Society which continues to work with children who need our help most. I hope everyone will join us on Sunday 22 October at the Royal Albert Hall for a special celebratory production of Into The Woods - we’re raising money to ensure The Children's Society can continue their valuable work”.
Vinnie Jones, who stars in X-Men: The Last Stand and has appeared in numerous films including Swordfish and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, said: “I am delighted to be part of Into The Woods at the Royal Albert Hall. A musical role is a new venture for me and am truly excited that I will be part of two performances which will raise funds for The Children’s Society and all the work they do”.
Bob Reitemeier, Chief Executive at The Children's Society, said: “As The Children's Society celebrates its 125th Anniversary, we are thrilled to be involved in these special staged concert performances of the hit musical Into The Woods. The generously donated proceeds from this event will help us to reach out and support some of the most disadvantaged children in our society today".
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into The Woods combines classic fairy tales into a story about 'the complications of living in modern society and the difficult choices we encounter on the paths of our lives'. The stories - including Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel - are joined with a new creation; the tale of The Baker and His Wife.
Stars of stage, music and screen have been and are currently being approached to participate in this magical event and names will be announced when they are confirmed. Confirmed names are subject to availability.
