An early start at my desk, checking on the delivery from Suma at For Earth's Sake that arrives on each Tuesday. I go through the online invoice and delivery note and double check what we’ve received, what we haven't, double check the pricing and make any adjustments necessary, and also add the amount of stock bought of each item to the For Earth's Sake system. Vanessa's off with her sister this morning to visit a museum, so I just crack on with work at my desk and go through until lunch.
A quick visit to the plot in the afternoon sees that there's some germination in the seed of the cross of our Portuguese Cabbage and Dazzling Blue Kale. I was feeling a little bit nervous that this slow germination in brassicas might be prescient to what was to come the rest of the year, particularly as last year had seen such poor germination. Thankfully, with a little bit of germination I'm feeling things may just be a tad slow. Richard's put out a video about potential merchandise, which I'm really in two minds about. I think anything we do needs to be of a really good quality, and I'm also very aware that often people will say with the very best of intentions that they're willing to do something i.e. like buy merchandise, and then when push comes to shove it just doesn't happen. Not their fault, and I'm as guilty as anyone in doing this I’m sure. I also think in this day and age, do we need to be buying more stuff? However, some people have said that they’d like merchandise so we'll see what the general consensus is. The rest of the day is mulling and pondering and thinking and doing. Weather: Definitely feeling colder, and despite the sun trying to break through a couple of times it's generally an overcast and grey day. Breakfast: Lidl rye toast with yeast extract Lunch: Lidl Vegan Sausage Rolls and baked beans (tinned) Supper: Leftover goulash and wholewheat couscous mashed and mixed with a tin of Morrisons Vegetable Soup, pitta, two thin slices of cheese and sliced cucumber

I hope you have better compost for sowing seeds this year! The one last year looked truly awful in quality. (I still remember it!)

I've bought special compost, and the difference is huge! 🤞
