A Guernsey Gardener in 2025

A grey start to the day

Gosh, what a difference… it’s incredibly blustery, and grey, and rain is due and certainly feels like it’s on the way.

Richard’s wanting to do another video, and I’m at my desk both catching up on work, like this blog, editing a video, writing some stuff.. And also work work, which is For Earth’s Sake, Great Green Barn and another client… given all of this, the morning’s busy.

Various cups of tea and a Bali coffee (such a great coffee) keep me going through the morning, though when Richard says he’s doing a full lunch as a video and it’s 12.30pm, I decide to have a rice cracker as I have a few hunger pangs - though of course nothing like the starving around the world suffering famines or ruthless genocidal bombings like Gaza is currently.

In the background, as I work for another hour, I've Vivi talking about the walk we had to Peveril Point, and also her upload on making friends in the glorious town which is her new home… Swanage!

Lunch - delish!!!  Red Kidney Bean patties, Cauliflower Cheez, potato wedges and roasted tomatoes… YUM!!  And, of course, there’s a video coming out on Richard doing this!

In the afternoon I popped to the plot to do a segment of A Week at the Plot, and part of that was to do a voiceover for the work I had done on Sunday - the planting of those tomatoes!  Yay!!  I had edited the footage of me planting them, and had loaded it onto my tablet so that when I was at the shed I could do the voiceover whilst watching the video on my tablet… I forgot my tablet!!  Typical Paul…

So, I recorded pieces to top and tail the video, then did some work around the plot for an hour or so and then went home to watch the video on my tablet and do the voiceover - which went all fine!

Supper… there was leftover Cauli Cheez from lunch, and I suggested to Richard we have it with some baked beans from a tin… but no… he didn’t fancy that!

Instead, he fancied a soup so he cut up the remaining Cauli Cheez, added a tin of mushroom soup and also some frozen peas.  It was delish!  This no-cheese sauce he makes is a real winner, and I would like him to make a really thick version that I could slice and have as a grilled topping on toast… fingers crossed!!

We watched Canal Boat Diaries, now on episode six, and then finished Looper which we started watching last night.

It was then time for bed around 10pm, and a few chapters of my book.

Happy Days!

Weather:  VERY blustery, grey and chilly start to the day.  Sun trying to break through much of the afternoon, which is dryer.

Breakfast:  Bran Sticks, yogurt, and stewed rhubarb
Lunch:  Red Kidney Bean Patties, Cauliflower Cheez, potato wedges and roasted tomatoes
Supper:   Cauli Cheez Soup with a tin of mushroom soup and frozen peas
